Hello, my name is Mark (Andrew) Granlund. I am a special education teacher at Florence Freshman Center. I am starting my sixteenth year in education. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall of 2007 in music education. In 2008, I began my teaching career, teaching choral music at Chelsea Middle School and Chelsea High School in Shelby County, Alabama. In 2016, my family and I moved to Texas to pursue a career for my spouse. I began work in special education at Lubbock Cooper High School as a teaching assistant, and the following summer certified in special education. In 2020, my family and I moved to Lake Jackson, Texas. I worked in self-contained behavior in special education at Angleton Junior High School in Angleton, Texas. In 2021, my family and I landed in Florence and I began my work at the Freshman Center. In 2023, I began work on a graduate degree through the University of North Alabama.
I am excited about becoming acquainted with the students at the Freshman Center every year and the new adventures that lie ahead of us. Go Falcons!
